General

Where are you located?

C26 Aquatics trains out of a year-round indoor pool inside Bluhawk in south Overland Park, at 16201 Shawnee Dr, Suite 126, Overland Park, KS 66223. From this single home we serve families across Johnson County and the surrounding area, including Leawood, Lenexa, Olathe, Overland Park, Prairie Village, and Shawnee.

What ages do you serve?

Our competitive training groups serve swimmers from ages 5 through 18, across seven groups:

  • Pre-Competitive (5–8) and Novice Age Group (7–12) for developing swimmers.
  • Advanced Age Group (9–14), Junior Olympic (9–14), and Pre-Senior (11–14) for competitive age-groupers.
  • High School Prep (14–18) and Senior Elite (13–18) for the highest levels of the sport.

If you’re not sure where your swimmer fits, we’ll evaluate them in the water and recommend the right group.

Can swimming help kids with anxiety or ADHD?

Many families find it does. Research shows regular exercise can improve attention, emotional regulation, and anxiety in kids — and swimming’s rhythmic breathing, structure, and measurable progress make it especially well suited. It’s not a substitute for professional care, but it can be a powerful complement. Read more about swimming and well-being on our Approach page.

How do I sign up?

Use the Join the Team button anywhere on the site to request a team evaluation and get started. New families begin with an evaluation so our coaches can place your swimmer in the right training group — reach out if you’d prefer to talk through options first. Team evaluations for the coming season run August 22–26.

Team

How do tryouts work for the competitive team?

We don’t run traditional cut-day tryouts. Instead, every new family books a free water evaluation with one of our coaches. Your swimmer swims a short set of skills — usually 25s of each stroke they know, a streamline, and a few laps for endurance — and the coach recommends a starting training group with clear next-step goals. Most evaluations take about 20 minutes.

What's the time commitment for the team?

It depends on the training group:

  • Bronze (developmental): 2 practices per week, 60 minutes each.
  • Silver (competitive age group): 3 practices per week, 90 minutes each.
  • Gold (championship age group): 5 practices per week plus optional Saturday long course.
  • Platinum (senior elite): 9 sessions per week including AM practices, plus dryland.

We expect consistency at every level — but we also work with families on school sports, music, and academic schedules. Talk to a coach about how your swimmer’s calendar fits.

Do you compete in USA Swimming meets?

Yes. C26 is a USA Swimming-registered club, and our swimmers compete on the Missouri Valley LSC meet circuit. Bronze swimmers attend developmental and intra-squad meets; Silver, Gold, and Platinum swimmers race on the full age group and championship calendar — including Sectionals, Speedo Sectionals, and Futures for qualifying athletes.

Logistics

How does payment work, and what are your fees?

Team membership is billed monthly and includes practice time, coaching, and onsite functional strength, plyometrics, and injury-prevention training. There’s a $100 annual placement fee per swimmer; USA Swimming registration and meet entry fees are billed separately as they come up. There are no mandatory fundraising fees or parent hours. Current pricing for each training group is listed on the Team page.

Where do parents wait during practice?

We have a dedicated parent viewing area with seating where you can watch the entire practice. Our private facility has its own entrance and parking, so drop-off and pick-up are simple. During practice we ask parents to stay in the viewing area so coaches can focus on the swimmers in the pool. Free parking on-site.

What are your safety standards?

Every C26 coach is a registered USA Swimming member. Our deck practices follow USA Swimming’s Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP) — including two-coach rules for one-on-one interactions and required reporting protocols. Lifeguard, CPR, and AED certifications are maintained for staff on deck. If you ever have a concern, talk to Coach Robbie directly.
